SETTING
The small, fictional town of Idris is a magical town located in is located in Northeast Greenland, near the coastal area, protected by wards and kept from prying mundie eyes. To Mundie eyes, the whole area appears to be a barren plot of land perpetually covered in ice. The area surrounding Idris is treacherous for mundies who try to approach and prone to avalanches. The school campus is located in the far west side of Idris, in a magical dome and has four very distinct seasons. Parts of the town of Idris closer to the school are also included in the dome, but further into town, the dome's magic wears off.

Campus Weather
The weather inside the school's wards have four distinct seasons. For RP purposes, we're going to go by Rome's daily weather report.

Campus Map
Here is a rough (not to scale) map of the campus. Click on it to get a bigger view!

Please note that the school is surrounded by a large, glass dome that is enchanted so that the campus itself has four seasons. Because of this, trees are able to grow (hence the forest). Outside the dome is normal Greenland weather with not much plant life, much less a forest.

*Note: The Health Center holds not only the medical wing but also the counselor's office and a magical warded room for students to go when their magic goes out of control. They will not be hurt in this room, nor will they be able to hurt others.

The Town of Idris

This is only the main part of town; there are more shops further out

Note: The drinking age in the town is 16.
However, alcohol is not permitted on school campus.

Foods
Café Tiki
A popular restaurant, the Café Tiki has a low key atmosphere. They are open from late morning all the way till midnight. Mostly catering to the town inhabitants coming in to get a quick meal, the Café also serves a lot of soups, salads and sandwiches. Of course, there is fresh fish offered as well and slight changes with the season and the availability of certain ingredients.

Pricing is reasonable at the Café Tiki. It could easily be an afterthought to stop in for lunch or even supper; one that wouldn't leave you without means to enjoy the rest of your day.
Lady Kasserie's Teashop
Most frequented by students from the Idris Academy, Lady Kasserie's Teashop is the perfect place to enjoy a slice of cake, hot beverage and a good book. It has a wonderful selection of all three.

Lady Kasserie is a witch with the gift of telekinesis, so don't be surprised to see your orders floating over to where you're seated or the occasional storm of books flying back to their places on the shelves.
Au Petit Salut
Au Petit Salut is the nicest restaurant that Idris has to offer. Owned by a faie from the oldest of the families from France, Monsieur Fontaine is also the head chef at this restaurant.

The decor is a warm, refreshing theme with tasteful furnishings. Everything is kept crisp, clean and simple. It's a great place to take someone you're hoping to impress.

The menu is complete with six courses: Hors D'oeuvres, The Fish Course, The Main Course, The Salad Course, The Cheese Plate, and the Dessert Course. Expect to pay for atmosphere and the decadent quality of the meal. This is a place you'd definitely want to plan ahead for.
The Pink Pony
Undoubtedly the most modern looking café in the whole of Idris, the Pink Pony is owned by a young therian with a great sense of humour. Her place is rather popular with students, especially for the young lovebirds looking for an inexpensive place to relax. A possible drawback to the male populace? The entire place is furnished in pink. At night though, the Café is transformed into a lively nightclub and caters to the young adults looking for a bit of fun dancing.
Zouk!
Owned by an ice mage Grigori Titov, Zouk! Is entirely made out of huge glass blocks. The bar operates from late afternoon till early hours of the morning the next day. The ice structures that hold the place together are frozen solid in place by the owner's wife who is a witch with the ability to freeze time.

This is definitely a place you don't want to miss visiting, although it does have slightly steeper prices for its endless range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. There is everything from cheap mundie-brewed beers to the finest selection of faie-brewed wines.
Sugar 'n' Spice
All the sweets in the world can be found here along with a selection of magical candies. Sugar 'n' Spice has everyone's favorites from Mars Bars to Sugar Quills and Blood lollipops.

They also offer homemade taffies, macaroons, bon bons, truffles and other confections.

Various seasonal sweets are made at Sugar 'n' Spice as well. Patrons can look forward to Pumpkin Pasties in the Autumn, Buche de Noel during the holidays and other specialties when the time is right.
On the Rocks
Located just at the outskirts of Idris, On the Rocks is a posh restaurant with an open air concept that has a remarkable view of the sea from where it is situated. Diners there for the first time will never fail to be amazed by the sights.

For those afraid of the cold? Fear not, the restaurant is still warded with heating charms within the designated boundaries of Idris. Perhaps the only way such a concept for a restaurant is feasible is through magic, which the city of Idris happens to have in abundance.
Clothing
La Rue Chaude
Looking for that perfect dress to wear to the school ball? La Rue Chaude is the perfect place to go! The boutique offers everything from simple dresses to fancy ballroom wear. Although the prices can get a little steep, the range offered by the shop and quality of each item on sale is definitely what draws customers back time and again.

While girls will often find themselves spoilt for choice at La Rue Chaude, that isn't to say that the male populace will be left behind. The boutique also offers a wide selection of suits and pants for every occasion for men.

La Rue Chaude is definitely the place to go to for formal attire. The boutique also offers tailoring services.
Bagunça
Literally taken to mean 'crazy' or 'mess' in Portugese, Bagunça isn't quite the boutique you would be used to. It carries everything from rabbit-fur fedoras to snakeskin belts. But their apparel isn't limited to just animal coatings, of course, they do hold a large selection of casual attire and odd accessories to go with. Rat bone necklaces and Salamander hair gel are just some examples of things you don't find anywhere else in Idris.

Bagunça is perfect for people looking for something unique and extraordinary. The price is really quite affordable and the stall owner, an elderly therian woman with several teeth missing, is always happy to help.
The Unicorn
This apparel store caters mostly to local adults. Most students at Idris don't often visit the store, although the same can't be said of the Professors at the Academy. The clothes available are largely simple, clean and elegant in design. While the price can't be said to be cheap, it is not particularly expensive either.

The Unicorn is perfect for someone dressing to impress without seeming too flamboyant. The store also carries other items like ladies' handbags as well as boots both for men and women.
Cotton On
Situated right in the middle of Idris, Cotton On is one of the favourite spots for the students in Idris to shop at. The clothes available there cater largely to young teens. Jeans, cotton t-shirts and khaki shorts are just some of the items they have in store. The price range is extremely affordable, and the store also holds frequent sales, particularly at the end of each season. Even if you aren't looking to stock up your trunk, Cotton On is a good place to go to get a present for a friend.

Right at the back of the store, there is also a small selection of shoes, subject to change according to the seasons. The salespeople in the store are also extremely friendly and ready to help.

Miscellaneous
Port Hub
The port hub is located just at the outskirts of the town of Idris. It is the means with which most of the students leave or enter their school, whether they are returning to school from summer vacation or going back home for the weekend. The port hub is open from 7 in the morning till midnight everyday.

Each port is a small cubicle that people enter and input their destination. It instantly transports the person inside the port to their desired location - another port station of their choice. There are port hubs all over the world, created by a group of the most talented witches of all ages all gifted with the ability of teleportation.

Utilisation of the port hubs is chargeable, but students at the Academy are given concessions.
The Apothecary
Looking for a rare or strange ingredient to finish that potion? Candles and chalk to mark your circles? Chances are that you'll find what you're looking for at the apothecary. Don't ask how, but the Warlock owner always seems to have what it is you need. The stock of ingredients are stored alphabetically and are relatively easily found on the shelves of the shop. The more expensive, rare, or even dangerous elements are all kept in the back for special request.

And for those less adept at potion making, the place sells premade bottled potions and antidotes. The owner will also take requests but remember that it will cost you.
Vanyel and Valerius
Offering a diverse and eclectic variety of books, Vanyel and Valerius also makes sure to carry every text on the Academy's booklist. And as long as a title isn't labeled forbidden by the Academy's standards then Vanyel and Valerius will special order anything for a student's needs. The shop also carries quills ranging from simple styles to ornate and expensive ones. Ink, pots, parchment and any other stationery needs are all here as well. There is also a small selection of art supplies and paints available to those interested.

A warm nook nestled in the shop's back corner features a fireplace and two worn in and completely comfortable couches for anyone looking for a relaxing moment.
Chernov's Joke Shop
The Chernovs are a russian witch couple that are particularly invested in creating all sorts of magical toys. Their joke shop has everything from dangling eyeballs to frog tarts. Apart from carrying the usual joke items, the couple also regularly experiment and come up with new tricks. They also have normal magical toys for those who are just looking to get their friends a present. Although who wants present when they could have a heartattack from one of these joke items?

Beware your friend who just returned from a trip to Chernov's and eat anything he offers you at your own risk!
The Reel Thing
The only cinema in Idris has been around for long enough that it is understandably ancient and worn looking from the outside. It looks like it could be an old Victorian Concert Hall, and at some point in history, it could have held plays for old magical folk. But as time passed, now the theatre offers everything from the regular mundie movies shown outside Idris as well as the very occasional concert by famous magical music bands or singers.

The Reel Thing has been run by the same Warlock family for as long as it has been around. The prices of movies are a flat rate for all students, while the prices for concerts differs according to the artistes the theatre holds.
The Chapel
A quiet place of worship for any religion. Those looking for some time alone to reflect and pray, no matter what religion they belong to, would be welcome in the Chapel. The Chapel is open at all hours of the day, and is run by an elderly earth mage. Inside, there are rows and rows of wooden pews, and a simple altar at the front consisting of large white candles. There are no crucifixes or any statues for worship.

While magicians have no known religion, particularly so for the Therians and Faie, students and locals alike are often seen at the Chapel, absorbed in quiet reflection and prayer.
Quality Blitzball Supplies
As the names suggests, Quality Blitzball Supplies is a store for all Blitzball players. In here, you will find the largest range of Blitzball supplies available all around the world. The store stocks Blitzball suits, training equipment, mouthpieces and even beginner devices, designed to help the new learner pick up the sport easily.

The best of the suits in QBS include functions such as water propulsion and force shields. Basic suits all come equipped with water repulsion charms and ease movement in water.

A true Blitzball fan can easily spend an hour or two in QBS without ever feeling bored.
