PREMISE
Welcome to Idris Academy, a school for magical folk located in the isolated reaches of Greenland. Here, those with magical abilities or superhuman attributes - the Faie, Therians, Mages, Witches, and Warlocks - come to learn. These are students who can hurl fireballs, transform into various animals, teleport from place to place, or live for centuries on end. There are your normal, human high school classes, and then there are the electives designed for each specific magical group. The goal of this school: assimilate these magical children into the human world and teach them how to control and utilize their special abilities.

But there's a problem... normal human beings can often be cruel and condescending. Some of the school's students do not actually want to assimilate. They would rather build their own, magical cities - sometimes empires - and live without having to regulate their special abilities.

This difference in opinion has caused a slight rift in the school...

Medieval Europe was best known for producing three of the world’s most powerful sorcerers in all magical history. Idrilain was known for her intelligence and remarkable earth mage gifts. Illusor was known for his bravery and great power of telekinesis. Idris, the one most feared and revered, was the warlock responsible for the most of the spellwork and wards that still in place now in the Academy.

In the early thirteenth century, these three famous magicians came together and decided to build a school for young magicians struggling to cope with their newfound abilities, as well as take some of the prominent Therian and Faie children under their wing. The three were friends united by a common goal – the education of likewise gifted children.

The three magicians were brilliant in their own rights. But Idris was far too concerned about the pursuit of greater power and pushing the limits of magic. For a long time Idrilain and Illusor turned a blind eye to what they hoped were intellectual endeavours of their friend. But as time went on, it became rapidly clear that not only was Idris obsessed with power himself, but he was seeking like-minded young students from the Academy and taking them on as his apprentices, imparting knowledge far more dangerous and powerful than children of their age should ever possess.

Idrilain and Illusor realised that they had to stop their friend. But by that time, Idris was far too entrenched in his own foolish desires to see sense. He had come to be far more powerful than any other magician known in history. In the end, it was only by a simple stroke of luck that Idrilain and Illusor managed to subdue him. Unwilling to admit his defeat, Idris ended his own life.

The Academy was thus reborn with its new name, though most of the former structure remained intact. The two remaining founders saw to it from then on that all the students who entered the Academy was treated equally and thus established the four houses and developed various activities to promote social harmony and integration amongst the five groups.

Till this date, the Academy takes in all children between the age of 11-18 who show signs of magic. Students to Idris are bound by a strict code and an oath of secrecy never to divulge the existence of magic to mundies as well as not to impart any of their knowledge gained through the school to others. Although the stories of war and resentment have faded with time, it has never been more important to retain the fragile truce that ensures the Academy’s success...
